2012 was the first full season of proper excavation with a complete field and laboratory team. Excavation took place over the full extent of the exposed deposits to create a set of new stratigraphic sections and to obtain artifact samples from all of the layers.

In the upper part of the section we discovered a complete Chatelperronian point, fragments of others, and backed pieces indicative of a Chatelperronian industry. The layer above this is clear Aurignacian, but the sample was still not large enough to tell which kind of Aurignacian.

In middle part of the section, we excavated a larger sample of the Ferrassie Mousterian layers, and in the base of the sequence we worked to reach bedrock and in so doing have a complete sequence.
