High-resolution (for the time) digital photographs were taken of a large sample of artifacts (over 8,000 objects) and stored in two resolutions -- a reduced version that can be quickly accessed by a GIS program and a higher resolution for archival purposes. Today, however, this difference is no longer relevant.
