Pech de l’Azé (pronounced "pesh/de/lahz" as if the final accent was not present) is a cluster of four Lower and Middle Paleolithic sites. They are situated some 50 meters off of the floor of a small, usually dry, valley that runs into the Enéa, a small tributary of the Dordogne River. Pech de l’Azé I and II are opposite entrances of a single tunnel-like cave that intersects a promontory in the limestone cliff. Pech de l’Azé IV is a collapsed rock shelter roughly 80 meters east from the mouth of Pech I. Pech de l’Azé III (not shown in the figure) is a small cave in the same cliff located about 30 meters west of the opening of Pech II.
